The Harriers travelled to the Deeside Stadium, Connahs Quay for their second round Cheshire Track & Field match at the weekend,(10thMay) the athletes taking advantage of the fine weather and turning in some good performances. Martha Cottrell, 12.0s, Jess Wright, 12.1s, Emma Crosby,13.3s, and Jenny Pyatt, 14.6s were the early scorers in the under 11 girls 75m sprints, and in the 600mtrs Jess left the rest of the field standing, winning the race in 2m 00.3s, Jenny scoring the B points with a time of 2m 25.9. Jess topped off her day with 3.34m in the long jump,Martha had a best of 3.03m Thomas Kelly scored all the point in the under 11 boys competition, starting with a splendid run in the 75mtrs, 11.9s, he then had a best of 2.90m in the long jump, and an 8.83m throw in the javelin event. Maisie Ford, Emma Scott, Amy Pearson, and Amy Wright all ran within under 2 seconds of each other in the 200m races 33.6, 33.1, 31.8, and 33.1 were their respective times. In the 800mtrs, Emma Pyatt led the scoring with 3m.04.3s, Maisie took the B points with 3m 07.3, Emma Scott's 3m 10.5 won the C points, and Amy Wright completed the scoring with a time of 3m 16.2s Maisie had a clearance of 95cms in the high jump, the two Amys scored the A & B points in the shot putt, Amy W, 5.27m, and Amy P, 5.25m. Amy Pearson, Maisie, Emma Pyatt, and Emma Scott were 3rd in the 4x100m relay, 64.0s. In the under 13 boys part of the match, Ashley Pye scored the 4th A points in the 100mtrs, 14.8s, James Crosby's 14.9s won the 1st B points and Richard McGeachie finished with the 5th C points, 17.0s. Robert McGeachie went to the 1500m start line with brother Richard, each running a very well judged race, Robert finishing just ahead of Richard, taking the 2nd A points, 5m 18.0s, Richard taking the 1st B points, 5m 31.0s. Thomas joined Richard, Robert, and Ashley to make up a 4x100m relay squad, finishing a creditable 2nd, 61.2s. In the under 15 boys competition, Nathan Dawson began his day with a personal best time in the 100mtrs, 13.4s, 2nd A, David Tomalin had a time of 14.4s,3rd B. Mark Coman, Liam Renton and Sam Ford were the 800m competitors, finishing 5th, 2m 22.1s, 8th,2m 28.2s, and 12th, 2m43.2s overall. Sam, 1.30m, and David, 1.20m won the points in the high jump, and Mark and Nathan taking the points in the shot putt, 7.80m, and 7.14m respectively. The 4 boys ran into a second place in the 4x100m relay, 55.0s. Under 17 lady Rachel Green ran a time of 2m 50.4s in the 800m race. Senior man Matthew Evans had a 5th place in the 200m, 28.7, a 4th place finish in the 1500m, 6m 33.2. |
