Contrasting with the warm sunny conditions at the Harriers last match, the weather at the Longford Park stadium in Stretford was "wet, wet, wet", but despite this, they were all "on song" and turned in some good results in the latest National Young Athletes League match last weekend, June 24th. Emma Scott, 6thA, 23.9s, and Amy Wright, 6thB, 24.2s were the first under 13 girls scorers in the 150m sprints, Emma then also having a great run in the 1200m finishing with a 3rbB place, 5m.08.5s, her long jump of 3.12m taking the 7thA spot. Emma Pyatt was the 1200m A scorer, with a time of 4m.38.4s for the 4th place points, she also took the 6thB points in the shot putt with a throw of 4.07m. Amy's 1.28m clearance in the high jump was one of the high spots of the day, this height was a Grade 3 standard and took equalled the winning height, but after countback she had to settle for the 2nd A points. In the shot putt, she had a best of 5.34m, 4thA Rebecca Gordon, and Olivia Dunsheath were together for the 75m races, Rebecca was in 8thA, 13.2s, Olivia, 7thB, 13.4s. Rebecca was having a great run in the 70m hurdles, but she had a fall, but got up and finished in 7thA place, Maisie Ford running in the B race had a 3rdB finish,16.8s. Medina Yassin and Olivia ran the 800m races, Medina taking the 8thA points, 3m.37.4s, and Olivia a splendid 3rdB, 3m.09.7s. Medina had a jump of 2.46m in the long jump. The two Emmas, Amy and Maisie were placed 4th in the 4x100m relay, 65.9s. Gallant Ashley Pye did all the scoring for the under 13 boys, having two great 2nd places in the 100m, and the 200m, with times of 14.9s and 30.1s. In the long jump he had a best of 3.48m for the 7thA points. Nathan Dawson, Liam Renton, Mark Coman, and David Tomalin was the line up in the under 15 boys competition, Nathan starting with a 5th place in the 100m, 13.3s, and then having a grade 4 result in the 200m, 26.9s, 5th place, and not to spoil his "consistancy" also had a 5th place in the shot putt with best of 6.74m. Liam had a well judged paced run in the 1500m, heading the field for most of the way, but was overtaken in the last few metres, settling for a fine 2nd place in 4m.48.3s. In the long jump his 3.93m was good for the 4th B points, Mark winning the A points with 4.42m. Mark was in great form running a grade 4 performance in the 800m, taking 2nd place in 2m.22.5s, he later ran the 400m and had a time of 62.7s for 5th place. David was unfortunately recovering from an injury and was unable to run, but helped with the scoring with 4th place throw of 14.12m in the discus. The duo of Rachel Green and Rachel Wilson were the under 17 ladies taking on the opposition, and they started with 2 great results in the 300m sprints, Rachel Wilson storming across the line in first place, 46.1s, and Rachel Green taking the 4th spot in 49.8s she then had a 3rd place in the 800m judging her pace well to finish in a time of 2m.54.7s. They each had 2nd places, A and B in the shot putt, Rachel Wilson with 5.91m, and Rachel Green with 4.07m. |
