The Harriers travelled to The Robin Park sports centre, Wigan for their second round match in the North West Sportshall league at the weekend, where they picked up points which should maintain their prospects of figuring in the finals in the new year. Jess Wright and Tori Acton got the under 11 girls off to a great start, each winning the 2 lap races, Jess, 25.0s Tori, 25.2s. Non scorers:- Emily Pearson, 26.7s, Katie Watson, 26.9s, Jenny Pyatt, 27.2s, Emma Crosby, 27.9s, Katy Morgan, 28.9s, Nicola Marsden, 29.7s. Jess added the winning A points to her tally with a win in the 4 lap, 53.3s.Tori's time of 56.3s winning the B race, and in the long jump, her 1.85m leap took the 1st A points, and Emily Pearson's 1.62m won the 3rd B points. Non scoring long jump:- Nicola, 1.46m, Louisa Burrows, 1.20m. Emma Crosby partnered Jess in the triple jump, Emma's 4.69m won took the 3rd B spot, Jess settling for the 2nd A with a best of 5.87m. The speed bounce event featured Katie Watson and Jess Parsons, Katie taking the 2nd A points with a score of 48, and Jess 3rd B, with a close 46 effort. Non scorers:- Jenny, 45, Katy 27. Ellie Hayes's best of 5.75m won the 2nd A points in the chest push, and Katy Morgan's 5.00m won the 3rd B points. Non scorers:- Emma, 4.50m, Jess Parsons, 4.25m. Katie Watson, Emily, Jess Wright, and Tori were third in the relay, 1m.45.1s. In the under 11 boys competition, Jack Allen and Andrew Cunniffe each had second place finishes in their 2 lap sprints, Jack's 25.0s won the A points and Andrew's 26.0s the B. Non scoring:- Adam Riley, 26.6s, Robbie Conduit, 26.6s, Tom Kelly, 26.7s, Joe Riley, 30.5s. Jack also won the 2nd A in the 4 lap, 53.0s, and brother Jake ran 57.7s for the 5th B place. Robbie Conduit and Andrew were the successful pair in the long jump, Robbie had a best of 1.68m winning the A points, and Andrew's 1.60m the B points. Non scorers:- Jake, 1.54m, Adam, 1.42m. Jake and Robbie had a keen competition in the speed bounce, Jake had an A score of 45, Robbie scored for the B points with 44. Non scorers:- Tom Kelly, 43, Adam Riley, 42. Thomas Jones's 1.38m in the long jump won the 2nd A points, and Jack Allen was in the points again with 1.35m good enough for the 1st B spot. Tom Kelly won the 4th A in the chest push with 5.25m,and Robbie had a 3rd B win with 4.75m. Joe Riley was a non scorer with 3.75m. Robbie, Andrew, Jake and Jack made up the relay squad coming home in third place, 1m.46.4s. The under 13 girls competition was off with an 4th A points win by Amy Pearson, 25.2s and Emma Scott with 25.7s for the B points. Non scorers:- Rachel Blount, 24.5s, Maisie Ford, 26.0s, Amy Wright, 26.0s, Katy Woodcock, 26.5s, Emma Pyatt, 27.5s, Rebecca Gordon, 28.1s, Lucy Andrew, 29.4s. In the tougher 6 lap event, Rachel Blount had a 3rd A place , 1m.24.6s, and Emma Pyatt's 1m.30.7s winning the 4th B place points. Non scorer:- Hannah Marsden, 1m.32.4s. In the long jump, Amy Pearson was the 2nd A winner with a splendid effort of 2.12m, and Maisie Ford was in 4th B place with 1.77m. Non scorers:- Emma Scott 1.76m, Emma Pyatt, 1.75m. Rachel was 5th A in the triple jump, 5.62m, and Hannah Marsden 5th B with 5.02m. Non scorers:- Katy, 4.75m, Rebecca, 4.29m. Amy Wright had a best of 6.44m in the shot putt, 4th A , and Hannah scored the 4th B with 5.38m. Non scorers:- Rebecca, 5.33m, Maisie, 4.65m. Amy Wright also had a personal best of 82 in speed bounce for 2nd A spot, Emma Scott was in 3rd B with 69. Non scorers:- Amy Pearson, 68, Lucy Andrew, 60. James Crosby, Jamie Cunliffe, Ashley Pye, and Merk Deprose were the competitors in the under 13 boys part of the match, not winning anything worse than a second place in any of the events, Mark taking the 2nd A points in the 2 lap, 24.3s, and Jamie taking the 2nd B with 24.5s. Non scorer:- James, 24.8s. Jamie also took the 3rd A points in the 6 lap. Non scorers:- James, 1m.29.9s, Mark, 1m.32.6s. Mark had a best of 2.04m in the long jump, 2nd A, and James in 2nd B place with 1.98m. A best of 45 in the vertical jump won the 2nd A points for James, and Ashley's 40 took the 1st B points. In the shot putt, Mark took the 2nd A place with 6.92m, Jamie close with 6.83m won the 1st B points, Ashley was a non scorer with 5.52m. James rounding off their scoring with 70, 2nd A place in the speed bounce. Aiofe Haymer and Ciara Hughes were the two under 15 girls in the competition, Aoife winning the 3rd A points in the 2 lap, jumping 2.14m in the long jump, 4th A, 6.52m in the triple jump, 2nd A, and winning the speed bouce with a magnificent effort of 90. Ciara's scoring efforts were 5.44m in the shot putt, 6th A, and taking 6th B points in the long jump, 1,66m, 5.16m in the triple jump, 53 in the speed bounce. David Tomalin and Mark Coman were once again the under 15 boys doing the honours, Mark taking the 3rd A points in the long jump, but his competition came to an abrupt end when he took a nasty fall competing in the 6 lap, and having to retire with a hip injury. David gallantly continued the scoring with a 3rd A in the 2 lap, 23.5s, a 3rd A in the 6 lap, 1m.20.0s, in the triple jump he came 2nd A, 6.93m, and completed his scoring with a 3rd A in the speed bounce.
