The Northwest Sportshall League Finals at Robin Park Wigan was the culmination of the indoor season for the Harriers last weekend, where all of the boys and girls age groups were represented, having competed for the honour during the last 5 months at the various league matches. The match started in the morning with the under 11's competition, which is a team event, each team member contributing to the overall scoring with their efforts. The girls squad was in very good form, Katy Morgan, Kate Merrill, Emily Pearson, Emma Crosby, Ellie Hayes, Jess Dexter, Martha Cottrell, Jenny Pyatt, Tori Acton, Jess Wright, and Katie Watson totting up the points which resulted in a bronze medal third place for them. Individual results,:- 2x2 relay, Tori & Jess Wright, 49.3s 6 lap paarlauf, Tori & Jess Wright, 80.8s Over-under relay, Katie Watson, Jenny, Kate, & Martha, 74.0s 4x1 relay, Katie Watson, Emily, Jenny, & Martha, 4th, 52.3s Long jump, Tori 1.98m, Martha, 1.94m Triple jump, Jess Wright, 6.03m, Martha, 5.31m Vertical jump, Emily 43, Tori, 37 Chest push, Ellie, 5.75m, Katy Morgan, 4.75m Javelin, Jenny, 13.0m, Katie Watson, 13.0m Speed bounce, Jess Wright, 53, Katie Watson, 48 Jack Allen, Jake Allen, Curtis Taylor, Adam Riley, Joe Riley, Thomas Kelly, Ben Sutcliffe, Thomas Jones and Jack Peacock took up the challenge for the under 11 boys rewards, but they were just outside the medal positions, finishing in creditable equal 4th place. The under 13 girls were represented by Emma Scott, Amy Pearson, Emma Pyatt, Maisie Ford, Hannah Marsden, Amy Wright, and Rachel Blount Emma Scott started the scoring with a 6th place in the 2 lap, 25.6s, and had a 4th place in the speed bounce. Amy Pearson's 25.6 in the 2 lap earned the 6th B points.In the long jump she was in 4th A place, 2.02m, and 5th A in the Vertical jump, 46. Rachel won the 3rd B points in the long jump Rachel, 86.9s, and Emma Pyatt 92.6s took on the tough 6 lap race taking 5th A and B places. Hannah and Amy Wright each had 6th places in the 4 lap, 56.1s and 58.4s respectively. They were also paired in the 8 lap paalauf, finishing in 2nd place, 1m.49.8s. Hannah's 5.63m in the long jump won the 6th B points and Amy's 6.20m taking the 5th A points.Hannah finshed her scoring with a 6th B in the shot put, 4.51m, Amy with 74 in the Speed bounce won the 3rd B points. Maisie had a best of 33 in the vertical jump, 6 B, and in the shot put her 4.95m good for 6th A Rachel, Maisie, Emma Scott, and Amy Pearson were in 5th place in the 4x2 lap relay, 1m.41.2s Ciara Hughes, Nicole Bell, and Aoife Haymer were the under 15 girls taking on the rest, Nicole running a 6th A place in the 2 lap, 24.8s,and Ciara taking 6th B 27.4s In the long jump, Nicole had a best of 2.04m for 5th A, and Ciara's 1.51m won the 5th B points. Nicole's 48 in the vertical jump took 6th A, and partnering Aoife in the 8 lap paalauf, finished in 2nd place, 1m.41.8s In the triple jump, Aoife's best jump took the 3rd A points, and she rounded off her day with gold medal winning 89 in the speed bounce. Ashley Pye and Mark Deprose were the 2 lap runners which was the opening event for the under 13 boys, Ashley's 23.9s 2nd place won the A points and Mark's 25.2s won the 2nd B points Jamie Cunliffe took the 3rd A in the 4 lap, 52.5s and James Crosby ran 56.1s for the 5th B points Brothers Robert and Richard McGeachie were the dominant runners in the 6 lap races, Robert taking the gold medal with a time of 81.9s, and Richard's 87.7s took the 2nd B points.Richard and Robert continued their great winning form, taking the gold medals for their win in the 8 lap paarlauf, 1m.45.0s. The long jump was a silver medal winning event for Mark, his best jump of 2.11m was the medal winner, James won the 1st B points with a jump of 2.04m Ashley took the silver medal in the triple jump with a jump of 6.44m, Richard secured the 3rd B points with a jump of 5.19m. In the vertical jump, James won the silver medal with a best of 45, and Mark's 44 won the 2nd B place points. Shot putters Jamie and Robert won the points in the event, Jamie's 6.29m winning the bronze medal and Robert's 6.00m winning the 3rd B points Ashley completed his medal tally with a bronze winning 77 in the speed bounce, Robert had a 1st B score with 74. Jamie, Mark, James, and Ashley came in 3rd place in the 4x2 relay, 1m.40.0s The three man squad in the under 15 boys competition each came home with medal wins, Nathan Dawson starting the ball rolling with a silver in the 2 lap, 22.0s, David Tomalin winning the 3rd B with 23.4s. Nathan also won the gold medal in the 4 lap, 48.2s, Mike Fryer's 50.2s won the B points. In the 6 lap Mike ran a time of 79.8s to win the silver medal. David was the silver medal winner in the speed bounce with 82, he also picked u Top the 3rd A place in the triple jump, 7.24m, Mike securing the 3rd B points with 6.90m. Nathan and Mike were together in the long jump, Nathan's 2.38m winning the bronze medal, and Mike's 2.32m taking the 3rd B spot Nathan and Mike rounded off their winning ways with a great gold medal win in the 8 lap paarlauf,1m.37.4s |
