With a particularly "Super Saturday", club members earned 14 medals this weekend, including 6 Golds.
Undoubtedly the star of the weekend across the whole Championships, Jenny Pyatt earned 4 gold medals, cleaning up all of the throwing events in the U15 Girls category and breaking the club record in three of the four events.
Other gold medal performances came from Elizabeth Wright, winning the U13 Girls shot put competition, James Ennis, setting a club record 1m50 for the U15 Boys high jump and Emma Scott, taking gold in the U20 Ladies 400m.
Chris Larkin came away from the Championships with a silver in the U15B high jump, and bronze medals in both the 80m hurdles and long jump, with PBs in both of his jumping events. He also competed in the 800m and 1500m with personal best performances in both races.
Jacob Birtles, U13B, also grabbed more than one medal with a very close silver in the 200m (PB) and a bronze, and new club record, in the 800m.
Emma Scott added to her tally with a bronze in the U20 Ladies long jump, and Luka Tron and Luke Southerton both bagged bronze medals, in the U15B 200m and U13B 100m respectively.
As well as the medallists, there were also great performances by other club members:-
Hannah Boyd -U13G 75m
Skye Marsh - U13G 75m and 70m hurdles
Charlotte Cox - U13G 75m
Elouise Angus - U13G 800m and 70m hurdles
Abby Watling - U13G 800m
Sophie Ferguson - U13G 800m
Ellie Tron - U15G 800m and 200m
Dean Rix - U13B 200m
Despite the weather's best attempts to dampen the spirits, particularly on Sunday, this was a very successful championships for the club, and hopefully everyone who took part could take a great deal from it!
We should also mention the club officials who spent two days at the track, from dawn until dusk, as timekeepers and county administrators, without whom the championships couldn't take part!
Youth Development League
Written by Website
Tuesday, 07 May 2013
Over the past two weekends, Harriers have been taking part in the new Youth Development League which has replaced the Young Athletes League as the national competition for junior athletes.
The competition is split into two meetings - an U17 / U20s match, and an U13 / U15 match.
U17 / U20 Harriers are in the West 3 division of the Northern section, looking to progress into the West 2 division.
U13 / U15 Harriers compete in the West 3 division of the Northern section, hoping to avoid the relegation drop to West 4 or gain promotion to the West 2 division.
In the first meetings over the past two weekends, Connor, Ben and Emma represented Harriers at the Upper Age Group (UAG) meeting in Stockport, where the size of their squad meant that they stand 8th in the League, scoring 91 points in total. Ben set a new club record for the 400m hurdles of 68.6s, whilst Emma Scott created new records in the flat 400m of 67.5s and long jump at 4m63.
In the Lower Age Group (LAG) meeting, Emilia, Holly, Elizabeth, Elenor, Orla and Elouise represented the club in the U13G age group with some new disciplines being picked up on the way! The U13B team was fast in the relays, narrowly winning their race with the team (Luke Southerton, Luke Sutton, Jacob and Tom) also smashing the club record in a time of 57.7s. The U15B and U15G squads sadly were hit by illnesses and injuries, so couldn't get a relay team out, but Bradley, James, Chris, Ellie and Jenny still put in some great performances. Once again Jenny broke the club discus record with a throw of 29m64.
Overall the LAG teams finished a solid 5th, and with a bigger team next time (fingers crossed!) the team is in great shape to challenge for the higher places in the league throughout the season.
"Marathon" Cheshire T&F meeting on Marathon day

Monday, 22 April 2013
First of all, the Club would like to say a great big "thank you" to everyone who turned out for the first meeting of the Cheshire Track & Field League for Harriers this year. Athletes, parents, friends, coaches, team managers, officials - everyone's determination, performances, support and patience were tested to the full on a really competitive day of athletics, taking on some of the biggest clubs in the Cheshire area.
The weather was perfectly scheduled - rain from about 11am onwards, just as everyone was pitching up with chairs, tents and picnics, and one very heavy downpour just before the relays got underway!!
With so many big clubs taking part, and so many enthusiastic runners wanting to take part in non-scoring events, the fixture quickly got well behind schedule - not something which Cheshire T&F meetings are usually known for. But despite at one point being 2 hours behind the intended timetable, we were able to put out strong full teams in most of the track events.
The full results will be out shortly, both on the Cheshire AA website (here) and on the Powerof10 website (here), but we already know there were plenty of PBs across a range of different events, and even some club records set.
The next Cheshire T&F meeting is on 18th May in Macclesfield, but before that there are the Cheshire County Athletic Championships, held over two days at Trafford AC's track in Stretford - you need to enter individually for this, and the closing dates are the end of this week, so please get your entries in ASAP!!
