Halton and Frodsham Harriers were competing at the last round match of the North West Sportshall League staged at The Shevington Leisure Centre, Crewe.

The results of this match would decide who would be taking part in the league finals at Wigan in March, the good news is that the under 11 girls and boys, the under 13 girls and boys and the under 15 boys have qualified. The under 15 girls just missed out by one place.

Well done to all those who turned out for these! Detailed results are available here.

A great start to the year with a really good turnout for the Harriers at the Woodbank Park round of the Manchester Area XC League. This was the final race for the U11s and race 4 of 5 for all other age groups.

New faces and regulars turned out for probably the toughest of the courses in this league including "the hill"!!

Well done to Natasha, Isla and Charlotte (U11G), Chris and Lauchlan (U11B), Georgia, Jenny, Keira, Emily, Kelsey and Jess (U13G), Bradley (U13B) and Richard (U15B) for battling the course!

Performance highlights included Christopher Larkin winning the boys U11 race and Georgia Aston-Massey taking third place in the girls U13 race, but everyone who took part gave their all in a great warm up race for this weekend's Cheshire Cross Country Championships, especially those running a cross country race for the first time.

With the U11s series now complete, Chris took 3rd points position in the boys overall, and Charlotte took 14th place and Isla took 15th place in the girls competition. In the U11G team competition, the Harriers team took a well deserved 4th place overall too!

Georgia is in 2nd place in the U13s competition with 1 round to run, and Bradley is in 19th place in the boys U13s competition.

Congratulations to Jess Wright (U13) who has made it not just once, but three times into the listings of the top 20 performances in the UK this year as published in Athletics Weekly this week.

As well as posting the 20th fastest 1500m (5m02.4s), and the 16th highest high jump (1m46) Jess posted the 4th fastest time in the country at 800m when she covered the distance in 2m24.3s at the Danny Evans Memorial Open at Connah's Quay back in June.

Whether you'll be posting UK records or just want to keep track of your PBs, all club athletes can make sure they are set up on the Powerof10 website, which records results for nearly all of the events that the club takes part in. Registration is free, and once your details are loaded results are automagically linked to your details to keep a track of your performances, and see where you stand against other athletes.

Sunday, 05 December 2010

Well done to all the Harriers who braved the snow to run in the 3rd round of the Manchester Cross Country League at Boggart Hole Clough on Saturday.

There was a good covering of snow, mixed with ice, mud and grass at the venue which made for challenging conditions, and there were some excellent performances once the snow ball fights had faded away!

Full results are now available here  on the race-results website.

Highlights of the day included Georgia Aston-Massey's battling second place, fighting off two competitors on the line for second place in the U13 girls race.  Shortly behind her came Christopher Larkin winning the U11 boys race comfortably, but all athletes deserve a mention!

Well done to Natasha, Isla, Alex, Charlotte, Christopher, Georgia, Jess, Annabel, Kelsey, Emily, Jenny, Bradley & Richard for braving Arctic conditions and representing the club!
