The Frodsham-based endurance squad reaped the benefits of their hard training throughout the winter with 7 medals at last weekend's Cheshire County Championships.

Richard McGeachie (U20 - 3000m gold, 800m silver), Jacob Birtles (U15 - 800m gold) and Chris Larkin (U17 - 3000m bronze, 1500m steeplechase silver, high jump silver and triple jump silver) all set PBs and club records in their events on Saturday and Sunday, with Richard's battling display in the 3000m and Jacob's dominant 800m run being particular highlights in the glorious weather on the Saturday.

Whilst the athletes are the ones running the events and taking the glory Nick Massey as coach to the squad should also be singled out for his dedication and hard work with this squad too!

In addition to Richard, Chris and Jacob, Luke Southerton was the only other Harrier to compete in the weekend's championships, unfortunately overstepping the take off on each of his jumps and missing out at an excellent chance at the gold medal.

It was disappointing to see such few entrants this weekend, with no female competitors at all.  Perhaps athletes and parents could feed back to coaches and team managers to see whether there were any underlying reasons for the low turnout?

Full results are now available on the Powerof10 website and on the Greater Manchester AA website.
