With some of the usual "open" runners conquering the UK in Birmingham it was a small team of three girls who gathered medals in the sun at Warrington's Victoria Park Open.

Georgia Aston-Massey 3m00 and Keira Brady-Williams 3m40 (pb) went in the long jump. Emily Ross ran bravely 2m56s in a very strong 800metres.

Emily and Keira then turned to the javelin and showed that the training is paying off, Emily throwing an excellent 18 metres 05cm for the gold medal and Keira making her javelin debut returned with a silver medal throw of 13 metres.

Georgia then rounded off a great day by running an amazing 5m09s for silver in the 1500 metres.

Halton & Frodsham athletes represented Cheshire today in the UK Indoor Finals at Birmingham.

Jess Wright, Emily Pearson and Kate Merrill were are U13 Girls. They all took part in relays and individual events, gaining valuable point for Cheshire. With all the up's and down's they had during the day, their hard work and determination paid off as their team finished in pole position, making them the UK Champions. What an achievement girls, well done!

The facilities in Castle Park, Frodsham are not yet fully completed, and as a result, the training sessions in the park commencing this Tuesday 20th April will not have any under cover shelter, except under the trees, so it is advisable that members turning up at these sessions should bring some weather proof clothing, should it be a wet evening.

I have arranged for the temporary toilets sited down on the old tennis courts site to remain open until 9 pm.

Parents should still ensure that their children are taken up to the top field and collected from there at the end of the sessions.

Just a polite reminder to all athletes that if you can't attend for the whole of a meeting, please let your team manager know so that you are not mistakenly selected for relays which are usually at the end of the meeting.

Its particularly important because other team members might then not be able to run in a relay that they were expecting to take part in if some of the relay team are missing.
